Australasian College of Cutaneous Oncology (ACCO) was founded in Victoria in 2006.
The mission of the College is to certify competence and knowledge in the medical and surgical management of skin cancer.
Dr. Dixon (ACCO co-founder) has been teaching skin cancer medicine and surgery for over 20 years. Increasingly doctors were seeking a means of certification of the competence they had obtained as a result of such teaching.

This need recently became especially important with the effective demise of the ACSCM.
The ACCO offers four certification awards:
- Certificate in Primary Skin Cancer Medicine
- Diploma in Skin Cancer Surgery (DACCO)
- Certificate in Advanced Dermoscopy
- Fellow of ACCO
You can choose to attend any programs or you may choose to progress through all programs towards achieving Fellow of ACCO.

Doctors with a former ACSCM qualification can have their equivalent certification transferred for the nominal administration fee of $100.
The standard set by the ACCO has been developed by Dr. Dixon in conjunction with General practitioners in Australia and New Zealand as well as dermatologists in Australia and the USA.
Importantly, the ACCO is not subject to interference or manipulation by industry. Treatments that are not researched, proven and TGA approved will not be promoted or encouraged at any time. ACCO insists on the highest standards of conflict of interest declaration.
Doctors attending Dr. Dixon's workshops have the opportunity to sit an on-line examaround a month following their workshop. Competence in the surgical skills required at each level are assessed during the workshops.
The theory of cutaneous oncology and the ability to recognise lesions correctly clinically and with dermoscopy is examined through the ACCO on-line examination process.
